The
21st century has seen a paradigm shift in how people meet and
socialize. Gone are the days of bars and parties. The whole process happens through
a computer on random chat. This has fundamentally altered not just the
way in which you approach the conversation, but also how you have the
conversation itself. The garb of anonymity gives a wide scope for free
expression, which is balanced out by the risk of being skipped through if you
say something uncouth. Is this a more balanced and free of way of socializing?
Or is there a darker side to it?
What
Is The Case For Online Chatting?
Online
chatting has in one fell swoop removed most of the oppressive elements of real
face to face meeting. For instance, the cost of entering clubs and buying
drinks is now gone. Further, back in the day, you only had a handful of options
to choose from when deciding who to talk with. But when you chat online,
you can meet hundreds of people in a matter of a few hours. And without doubt,
the biggest benefit of course, is how safe you are. If you use these platforms
wisely, you are much safer than you were in a club.
What
Is The Case Against It?
Previously,
I mention that these platforms are safe only if you use them wisely. What exactly
does this entail? Firstly, it means not giving out your personal when you talk to strangers. It also means making sure that you are not being recorded
against your will, so on and so forth. There are no dearths of instances of
people being tricked into adult chats only to find themselves in a porn website
later. Lastly, if you ever feel attacked or uncomfortable, please skip past the
person. Do not worry about what they feel. Keep this in mind and be safe.
